Thought of the Day

Change and Stagnation

April 23, 2009

I remember back in 1995, a large crowd of us at work gathered in a small conference room. We huddled around one of our IT guys as he showed us how you could go on the "World Wide Web" and get a "live" stock quote. Everyone was amazed. Within about two or three years, just about everyone had access to the "World Wide Web" and its presence became ubiquitous.

In contrast to this, during the period from 2000 until now, while no doubt there has been change, it has been relatively slow and unsweeping. What happened? Here's my opinion: the direction of the country simply changed. The vision of a new world and new ways of doing things simply came to a halt. Change went back it usual slow in
incremental pace.

I sense the rapid rate of change returning. My prediction is that the next two or three years will see a lot of new things
