Grow Your Own
August 11, 2008
No, not marijuana, food!
You would probably be surprised how much food you can grow in a small area, with a small amount of effort.
My biggest piece of advice, that I have learned the hard way, would be to grow a small amount that you can easily take care of. If you try to grow to much, you might not have the time to take care of it all, especially when it needs some attention, and then you could loose it all. On the other hand if you have a few good plants, it is not only easy but fun to take care of them. Even with only a few good plants, you'll probably have more than you can eat and have extra to give away.
When you grow your own food, it is better for you (no pesticides), and it is better for the world. All of the food you buy at the grocery store is grown and transported and refridgerated with diesel fuel power.
Finally, if you don't care about your health or the environment, there's one more thing. When you grow your own food, you break the TAX cycle. Normally you work, get paid, pay tax, buy food. The farmer sells food, pays tax - and the cycle keeps going.
